Expert Ideas for a Healthier Home

The open kitchen plan is becoming popular nowadays. Many homeowners opt for an open-kitchen plan that makes your kitchen visible in the dining area and living area.

This layout creates open space and brightens your home. It is suitable for socializing with family, relatives, and friends. You may entertain them while cooking or look after your children while preparing for a sumptuous meal.

Due to its visibility around the house, your open kitchen must be maintained always. To give you ideas on how to manage it, we have listed some ways on how your open-kitchen will become more functional and attractive:.

1. Declutter your open kitchen

Your open kitchen must be neat and organized. It will make your home clean and beautiful to look too. To achieve this, you must declutter the things by hiding them in the kitchen cabinets and drawers.

Also, children can access your kitchen quickly and may play with the kitchen utensils that are just placed on the counter top. It is advisable then that you keep kitchen utensils such as knives or other tools that have sharp edges in your cabinet drawers.

2. Make open shelving neat and appealing

Try to maintain your open shelving by cleaning the things that are placed on it always. Arrange them properly to make it look tidy. As much as possible you may opt for a minimalist style and unified color palette. Also, display some beautiful things that can make your kitchen look appealing.

3. Clean the countertop always

Make it a habit of leaving the kitchen countertop including the island countertop clean and free from non-essential things. Do not make the countertop a drop-off place for keys, mails, magazines, books, and dirty dishes. Wipe it with clean fabric after using it. Also, maintain a dry countertop always. The wet countertop looks messy.

4. Degrease the backsplash, cabinets, and oven

To make your oven last for a more extended period, you must clean it always and remove the grease. Likewise, degrease the backsplash and cabinets too. Make a mixture of vinegar and warm water and spray it on the backsplash and cabinets. Let it stay for five minutes and rinse it with water. Pat it dry with clean kitchen towel. It will make your kitchen clean, safe, and functional. Also, include cleaning the electric oven cables for dust and grease as these may cause a fire.

5. Wash the dishes everyday

This thing is very critical in a kitchen; you should wash the dishes everyday. Do not let the plates stay overnight as this may attract pest. Bacteria may be left on the plates as the pest feast on your leftovers. It will make your kitchen dirty and unhealthy for you and your family.

6. Mop the kitchen floor

The floor of the kitchen is sometimes left unnoticed. The truth is your kitchen floor is a mess with splashes of water and oil from washing and cooking. You must mop your kitchen floor with soapy water each day to maintain your kitchen.

7. Let your fridge be as it is

Do not clutter your fridge with so many things such as magnets, papers, photos, and notes. Let your fridge be simple, and this will make it neater as well as your open kitchen too.

8. Remove excess things

If you plan to have new equipment or something in your kitchen, you must remove one thing too. In this way, it will balance the items in your kitchen, and it will not look crowded.

9. Provide an efficient cooker hob

Make sure that you have an efficient cooker hob that could suck all the odors in your open concept kitchen to avoid any bad smell that may spread all around your house. Also, you have to maintain your cooker hob and let it be inspected by an experienced and reliable appliance technician always. In this way, it will function properly and make your kitchen smells good and clean.

The open kitchen plan can modernize your home, yet you have to manage it properly. Make sure that you consider the above ways in maintaining your open kitchen. Indeed, it will be a great place for cooking and entertaining your family and guests.
