Expert Ideas for a Healthier Home

We buy home appliances so we can do our chores easily and efficiently. But that doesn’t mean that our appliances can withstand everything. Yes, it might be durable, but with constant use, it will eventually become faulty. After all, most of it are being used multiple times a day. So, if you do not know how to properly use it, then its life might be shorter than expected.

Before that happens, what should you do? How can you prolong its life? What are the things that you need to avoid? Well, we have the answers for you. This post will provide you with the most common home appliance headaches and how you can prevent them.

Air Conditioner

Let’s begin with air conditioners. Air conditioners are meant to make the air cooler, right? But if you do not take care of it, then its performance might be below the standard. So what do you need to do? It is essential to replace your filters and to regularly clean the units. Our suggestion is to ask a professional to do it for you. Get the services of a company that has established its credibility over the years. Do not fix it on your own or it might cause you more damages.

Washer

Here’s something very common. We do not check the pockets of our pants before throwing it to the washer! We know that most of us are guilty of this. Sometimes we leave small items like coins, paperclips, or even candies, right? These might be small things but it can damage your appliance and can even cause glass panels to crack. Another tip is not to put too much detergent in your washer as this can ruin its control panel. Make it a habit to clean your washer to remove residues and other debris. And lastly, don’t overload it as this can destroy the bearings and suspensions.

Oven

One of the most common problems of ovens are damaged heating coils. This is because we do not clean up the spills after using it. You might want to put foil on your rack the next time you use it.

And here’s another important reminder and we hope you do not practice this. Did you know that other people use their ovens to heat their rooms? This is extremely dangerous and can essentially damage parts of your oven.

Refrigerator

If you do not regularly clean your fridge and you keep a lot of food in it, there might be a buildup of mould. But that’s not the only thing that can happen. An extremely full fridge may result to the air not being able to circulate properly. This means your home appliance will have to work twice as much. It can lessen your refrigerator’s life and can shock you with a hefty electric bill!

The rule of thumb is, know your appliances well. Read the manual and regularly clean it or schedule for maintenance. And of course, use it for its main purpose to maximize its lifespan.
