We know that small restaurant businesses rely heavily on the condition of their kitchen appliances. Efficient restaurant equipment helps a lot in the continuity of the business operation and helps you serve more customers. This then leads to the improvement of the service that a cafe or restaurant offers to its patrons. Just like home appliances, restaurant equipment also needs proper maintenance. That is why we have some tips in this article from appliance maintenance experts who have a good experience in repairing and maintaining appliances for both homes and business establishments.

1. Fryers and Gas Cooker Hobs

Kitchen deep fryers and gas cooker hobs are one of the most dangerous and dirtiest pieces among every restaurant equipment if not maintained properly. Gas leaks in common fryers may lead to explosions. To get away from this type of kitchen incident, and to secure that your fryer will be running for a longer period of time, it is highly advisable to do fryer tests.

Fryer and gas cooker hob tests are done by spraying a soap-based cleaner on the gas connections and hoses. Once you’ve seen a bubble, this means that these restaurant equipment are having a leak. If you experience these problems, it is always a best practice to call a cooker hobs repair expert to help you. Doing this is the best safety and maintenance measure to assure a safer and efficient environment inside your restaurant.

2. Refrigerator and Freezers

Refrigerants or cooling restaurant equipment could be properly maintained by occasional cleaning. This helps your refrigerator or freezer to function properly and efficiently. Both interiors and exteriors of this type of restaurant equipment should be cleaned as well. You should also check the refrigerator’s defrost frequency and temperature settings.

Knowing the proper optimum temperature level of the freezer will surely lengthen the lifespan of the appliance. If these things are not properly maintained, the freezer or the fridge will be having some problems regarding temperature control that might lead to food spoilage and wastage. It is also a great help to properly place these types of appliances away from heating appliances such as ovens and cooker hobs. External temperature can directly affect the fridge’s optimal performance.

3. Ovens and Microwaves

To properly maintain this group of appliances among your restaurant equipment, the first step should be proper cleaning.  You should always clean the kitchen oven after every day’s use. This will keep your microwaves and ovens away from rusting which is the number one damaging factor of these types of appliances. There are available oven cleaners that strip off grease and food leftovers from these types of appliances. Non-Scented ammonia could also be a good alternative that can do tougher cleaning among ovens and microwaves

If you are experiencing overheating or improper oven temperature cooking, you should immediately call an oven repair expert to have it checked. This type of problem might lead to serious kitchen disasters and mishaps.

4. Coffee Makers

One of the most common maintenance problems of the coffee maker is the presence of germs and molds. Since this type of restaurant equipment is used with the highest frequency, it is essential to disinfect it to prevent pestering bacteria and molds from damaging the machine. A vinegar and water solution is the best way to clean this equipment naturally and safely.

You can pour a solution of one part vinegar and one part water in the appliance’s water tank. Then place a filter onto the baster and turn the coffee maker on. Once the first two steps are completed, you can now run at least 2-3 more pots of distilled water into the water tank to eliminate the strong smell of the vinegar.

5. Wine Chillers

Wine chillers are one of the most expensive and most delicate restaurant equipment. To make sure that this appliance is properly maintained, you should start with its placement in the kitchen. It should be standing away from appliances that emit heat and extreme temperature. External temperature highly affects the wine chiller’s performance. Prolonged exposure to heat might also damage the appliance’s coolant that will surely cause a lot of kitchen stress inside your restaurant.

Once you have experienced improper temperature management or any type of problem for your wine chiller, it is best to call the experts immediately. This will help you to get away from further appliance damages which will require more expensive repair options.

Surely these restaurant equipment maintenance tips are so easy to follow.  Once you have checked these items, your kitchen will be having a better efficiency!
