Expert Ideas for a Healthier Home

Most new homeowners are so excited to move out in their recently bought house. On the other hand, you might be overwhelmed with the expenses to furnish your homes.

Also, considering that you have to pay the monthly bills for your home utilities.

For this reason, it is advisable that you start budgeting. Here are some tips that we think could help you save money and use these savings for other functions:

1. Look forward to furniture and home décor store sales

Your first home needs to be furnished and decorated to make it livable and welcoming. Hence, you need to buy furniture and home accessories. To sum it up, you will probably spend a lot of money on these.

One trick that you can do to keep money is to look forward to the sales of some home stores, which offer huge discounts on furniture, home decors, and houseware. Try to surf the Internet for some home stores and visit their websites. You may also sign up on their website to receive alerts on the possible dates of their sales. Probably, you may have 25% to 60% discount on some items that you need inside your home.

On the other hand, you must also consider the reputation of the furniture and home store and buy from the reliable ones. You must read the specifications of the items and the reviews of the former customers too. Having good views means their products are of quality.

2. Take into account buying from second-hand furniture shops

Most second-hand furniture shops have antique furniture and home accessories. They are good as new. Besides, the designs are more classical and some are elegant. And of course, they are less costly than the new ones. Try buying from these stores and just upgrade them by repainting or cleaning them well. Indeed, it will make a difference in your home designs, particularly for your savings.

3. Do not forget to use energy-efficient appliances and lightings

When buying for your new appliances such as refrigerator, aircon, cooker, washing machine, and dryer among others, look for an energy efficient label attached to them. Energy efficient appliances can really reduce your monthly electric bills because they consume less energy. The label consists of ticks.  If you choose the greatest number of ticks means the appliance is excellent in energy efficiency.

Likewise, use LED bulbs instead of the traditional light bulbs or incandescent bulbs. LED bulbs can save almost thrice spent on electricity using an incandescent bulb. In one instance, you will pay around $32 using an incandescent bulb for 5 hours each for two years. Meanwhile, if you run an LED bulb at the same time, you will only pay $12.

4. Conserve electricity and water

Saving on utilities such as electricity and water can really slash your monthly utility bills. You can save electricity by unplugging and switching off your appliances and lights when not in use. Aircon can consume much energy. For this reason, it is advisable that you install or rather use a ceiling fan instead of an aircon. You may adjust the temperature of your refrigerator and water heater at minimum degrees.

Likewise, you may run the washing machine and dishwasher when it is only a full load. With this, you can save water and reduce your water bill.

5. Sign up for Electricity Marketplace

The Singaporean bank known as DBS/POSB offers Electricity Marketplace, in which you can save around $300 a year on your electricity bills. All you need to do is switch electricity retailers on the Electricity Marketplace. To do this, visit their website and fill up the registration form by selecting the electricity retailer that will meet your needs, then log in, and switch.

Homeowners can really save money with the above money-saving hacks. This will make your lives easier and comfortable. Likewise, it will make you stress-free and enjoy life to the fullest.
