Expert Ideas for a Healthier Home

Some people do not attempt to beautify their homes because they fear that it will cost them too much. But you see, decorating does not have to be costly. Use this as an opportunity to squeeze out your creative juices and to be resourceful. If you do not know where to begin, here are some of the budget-friendly ways to decorate your abode.

But before you start with your decorating project, we suggest that you clean your house first. We are talking about GENERAL cleaning where you need to throw items which are no longer needed. You might have some documents or papers that have been sitting in your desk for quite some time. Or maybe, you have old shirts that you can donate already. Cleaning your house can give you a clearer picture on what additional decoration you need.

So, what’s next?

Change Your Curtains

To give your home an instant fresh look, change your curtains. You don’t need to buy expensive ones. In fact, we suggest that you go for plain designs so you can easily integrate other decorations around your house.

Fix Your Lighting

Proper lighting can do wonders for your home. You need to find the perfect lighting for each area of your house. Remember, different rooms call for different tasks, and this means, you need to choose your lights accordingly. Here are the general types of lighting:

  • Ambient lighting

This serves as the room’s natural light. It illuminates the entire room.

  • Task lighting

This is usually brighter than your ambient lighting and is used for reading or work area.

  • Accent lighting

If you have a nice work of art, or if you want to highlight something in your home, then this can create an instant dramatic effect.

Add Indoor Plants

Take the outdoors into your home by adding indoor plants. This will not only give your home a different look, but it is beneficial for your health.

Showcase Your Beautiful Glassware

If you have a nice collection of glassware, it is time to let the world see it. Arrange it on your shelves and voila, it will add character to your plain kitchen. It would be nice to add some colorful glassware too. These are readily available and will not cost you too much.

Repurpose Mason Jars

You can use mason jars for your coffee, cream, and sugar. Mason jars have become so popular for home decorators because it is affordable and gives your space a ‘homey’ feel.

Add Mirrors

We are sure you’ve heard of this but we will say it again. Installing mirrors can do great for your space. It makes your home look bigger. We suggest to get mirrors with interesting frames so it will look decorative and stylish.

Place Area Rugs

Area rugs work like shoes in any outfit. So if you want your home to have a complete look, add some area rugs where necessary. Place it in ‘dead’ spaces of your house so you can bring it to life. Your home will look more inviting and less dull.

You don’t have to renovate your home just to have a brand new feel. Adding minor pieces can go a long way. You can even change the position of your furniture and see where you can improve from there.
